SILA’s relationship with the steel industry began with Tata Steel BSL’s Khopoli plant, a downstream steel production facility in 2018. Soon, we expanded our scope and grew our offerings, providing specialized activities such as hazardous waste management, and supporting the plant through the COVID-19 pandemic by optimizing our operations and introducing technologies. Armed with our learnings about the processes of coated steel plants, we introduced our services at JSW Steel's coated plants in Vasind, Tarapur and Kalmeshwar. We have now implemented both mechanized and robotic cleaning systems at these plants.
After successfully understanding the processes related to Downstream steel production, we expanded our services to JSW at their upstream production plant in Dolvi. This project is a lot more technical in nature, requiring the highest level of Health & Safety Standards. SILA has invested in heavy machinery & equipment and built a higher level of EHS processes and capabilities in order to service this contract.
Due to the high-risk nature present by the working conditions, our team went through a rigorous training program to understand the nuances of steel production. We then took on a challenging project with JSW at their upstream steel production plant in Dolvi, which has a capacity of over 5 million tonnes per annum. Here, SILA team invested their time in learning about Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements related to the workings. From blast furnaces, calcination plants, to smelters, and from maintenance requirements at 50m heights to temperatures that go up to 60 degrees centigrade, the project presented a host of new and exciting challenges. To meet the requirements of the facility, SILA invested in heavy machineries such as Skid Steer & Back Hoe Loaders (JCBs/Bobcats), Manlifters, and Heavy Duty Super Sucker Vacuum trucks, in order to minimize the risk of working in such extreme conditions by automating and optimizing our services.
At SILA, we pride ourselves on our quick response and flexibility in providing exceptional service in every aspect of our offerings, while striving to meet the ever-evolving needs of our clients. Due to the added risk of the transmission of the Covid-19 virus, we further optimized our processes at steel production facilities through our bespoke app-based digitized process management system, SILA Connect, and introduced cleaning robots to aid our efforts in high-risk areas, while maintaining standards of quality and reducing costs. At Dolvi, SILA has successfully begun Automated Environmental Services Contracts at JSW’s LCP, SIP, and Sinter plants.
Owing to our on-ground team’s efficiency in providing services, SILA recently began services at JSW’s Vijaynagar township in Karanataka and JSPL’s Angul township in Odisha. We are confident of further expanding our relationship with companies in the heavy industrial space like steel, power, mining, oil & gas.
